Maitre Glacier Ice Cream Saint Sauveur

‘Maitre Glacier’ is another word for a great bloody ice-cream shop. Glacier means ice. I have learnt that from all the camping trips and road trips we go on and we need to buy ice from the service station, or the “Depaneur”. I will learn french fully at some point. In the meantime, I am learning some words gradually.

This shop is the shop that allows me to have fresh dark chocolate sorbet. I can’t believe I finally found a place that has it. What is even better, is it is located in one of my favourite towns at 18 Rue De La Gare, Saint Sauveur in Quebec, Canada. It is quite reasonable in price too. For $14.50 you can have a 1 litre tub. In Coogee, Sydney, I was paying around $18, and in Bondi, a little more.

I went with my wife and Mother in law Linda (Belle Mere) to have some ice-cream and this is what we found. Linda had the Caramel with coconut gelato in a cup and Veronique had the ice-cream twirl with dipped chocolate whilst I ordered the dark chocolate 1 litre tub of sorbet. Heaven in a tub.

I tried all of them. The sorbet as you now know, fantastic. The twirl ice-cream just didn’t compare to the shop in Mascouche. The Caramel and coconut gelato were also amazing. Sometimes when I have tried Caramel gelato in other places, it is so sweet, that it isn’t enjoyable. This was perfect and I will certainly try one next time. Mixed with the coconut is great too although I think next time, they will just eat the caramel only. It was really good.

The awesome part about this shop too is the outside seating area. In Canada, they have these wooden swinging chairs that you sit on with up to four persons and the seats can swing from side to side. I think they’re great. I have seen them everywhere but haven’t actually sat on them until now. I have seen them on sale at Canadian Tire (Similar to a Big W mixed with Kmart and a little Bunnings)

I took some photos of the shop with us.
